New Orleans | Angela & Chris’ Intimate City Park Wedding

I always say how I get to work with the sweetest couples and it really is true. Angela & Chris are just another example. I met Chris in college when we were both studying digital art at the University of New Orleans. While many can say college was their prime for social interaction, that wasn’t the case for me. Chris was one of the few classmates I became acquainted with. We lost touch after he left UNO, so imagine how surprised and delighted I was to see him and his then fiancé, Angela, at the New Orleans Brides bridal show! I am so incredibly grateful they were at the bridal show that day and stopped by my booth because working with them was such pleasure.

Like many couples in 2020, Chris & Angela had to downsize their wedding. They were originally going to have their ceremony under the Peristyle followed by a full reception at the Parkview Terrace. Due to COVID, they kept their Peristyle ceremony, but brought their reception down to an intimate dinner at Ralph’s On The Park with just family and their bridal party.

I would describe their wedding as an elegant, intimate affair. Angela’s lace mermaid dress and gorgeous updo created such a timeless look. Her earrings and hair piece added just a touch of modern. And her bouquet beautifully finished off her look with pieces of pompous grass among the flowers. Angela got ready at the Renaissance Hotel before heading off to a first look with Chris at the New Orleans Botanical Gardens. It was a beautifully sunny day that was neither too hot or too cold (those days don’t come often in New Orleans!). We placed them under some shady oaks to have their first look where Angela took a big breath before walking toward Chris. He, of course, told her she looked beautiful. Angela had been so nervous and it was apparent that after praying and sharing a laugh with Chris she was so much more at ease. One of the many reasons I recommend a first look!

The ceremony in the Peristyle was decorated very simply with two pompous grass and leaf columns. Truly not much was needed as the pond in the background created a stunning scenery. Once Angela & Chris officially were pronounced Mr. & Mrs., we soaked up the last of the golden hour with a husband and wife portrait session. At the reception, all were seated to delight in Ralph’s on the Park’s delicious food. Since it was just a dinner, there were no first dances but I snuck the couple away for a few minutes to capture them having “first dance” on the balcony. The night ended with dessert; they graciously had some cake set aside for me and my assistant and it was *chef’s kiss*. A sweet end in celebrating an even sweeter couple.

Congrats on your marriage Chris & Angela!
